Modesty brings success. The superior person carries things through to completion.

- First line (1): A modest person who is modest in every way: this is fitting for crossing the great river. Good fortune.
- Second line (2): Modesty that is expressed or proclaimed: perseverance brings good fortune.
- Third line (3): Modesty born of hard work: the superior person brings things to completion. Good fortune.
- Fourth line (4): There is nothing unfavorable. Modesty that is displayed or acted upon.
- Fifth line (5): Not wealthy through one's neighbors: it is favorable to use force to attack. Nothing is unfavorable.
- Top line (6): Modesty that is expressed: it is favorable to use the army to correct one's own city or state.
